Morning in the Valley FIELD & STORY FARM
Morning arrives slowly in the valley. Before the sun clears the ridge, fog gathers between the fields, and the mountains begin to separate into layers.
I return to the same overlook often, knowing the conditions are always changing.
Some mornings everything comes together. Other mornings it does not. I’ve learned that the photograph begins long before I lift the camera. It begins with the weather, the light, and knowing the place.
The valley, just before the light reached the lower field.
Light does not wait for you. It asks you to be ready.
The view is familiar, but it is never the same. Fog shifts. Light opens one ridge and conceals another.
The work is less about controlling the scene than recognizing when the conditions come together.
